Outcashem sharp in comeback

Joe DeVivo|Oct 20, 2007
Outcashem ($4.40) made a smashing return from a year's layoff to post a 6 3/4-length victory in the $51,200 City of Charles Town Handicap, one of three stakes at Charles Town sponsored by the local Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association.

A 6-year-old gelding trained by Scott Lake, Outcashem ran the 4 1/2 furlongs over a sloppy, sealed track in 50.94 seconds for his 19th win in 33 career starts.

Shippers from Maryland took the other two stakes on the card. Coya ($14) defeated Casse by 1o1/4 lengths in the seven-furlong, $51,400 City of Ranson for fillies and mares. Jenkin Jones ($6.20) scored by three lengths over Donald's Pride in the $51,200 Governor's Handicap at 1 1/8 miles.
