Outadore outlasts Jaxon Traveler in Woodstock Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Outadore swept to the lead at the head of the stretch and then out-finished the favored Jaxon Traveler to win Sunday’s $126,000 Woodstock Stakes at Woodbine.
Saturday George went straight to the lead and was tracked by another longshot, Sky’s Not Falling, through moderate fractions in the six-furlong sprint for 3-year-olds.
Outadore made a wide bid from fourth midway on the turn, and then took control before angling inward to the two-path around the eighth pole to make it tight on Jaxon Traveler. Outadore kept on going and prevailed by 1 1/4 lengths, in a final time of 1:09.77.

Chasing Artie closed belatedly to give trainer Wesley Ward the first- and third-place finishers. Sky’s Not Falling, Master Spy, Derzkii, and Saturday George completed the order of finish.
Justin Stein rode the Kentucky-based Outadore for the first time, for his second stakes score of the weekend.
“I’m just fortunate to be on the right horse on the right day,” Stein said. “I spoke with the assistant in the paddock briefly. He told me if I wanted to be on the front end, that was cool. He broke sharp. We were out-footed early. He settled into stride in behind. When I called on him, he really kicked. He dug in. He’s a runner.”
Outadore paid $5.90 in his second consecutive stakes success. The son of Outwork banked $75,000 for Breeze Easy LLC.
