Talk about being flattered.

Ours to Run is going for her sixth consecutive win Saturday night in the $75,000 Louisiana Legends Mademoiselle at Evangeline Downs, and she received the best kind of company line update May 4.

That’s when Mia Mischief captured the Grade 1 Humana Distaff at Churchill Downs with a Beyer Speed Figure of 99 – one start after running second to Ours to Run in the $145,000 Carousel at Oaklawn.

Ours to Run, meanwhile, has long been pointed for the Mademoiselle. The 5 1/2-furlong race, which drew seven fillies and mares, is part of the Louisiana Legends Night program at Evangeline. The card features six divisional stakes for Louisiana-breds, with those races worth a cumulative $450,000.

For what is the meet’s richest card, the pick four on races 4 to 7 will have a minimum guaranteed pool of $50,000.

KEY CONTENDERS

Ours to Run, by Half Ours

(Last 3 Beyers: 89-81-88)

◗ Ours to Run started her streak of five stakes wins in last year’s Mademoiselle, when she rolled by 4 1/4 lengths. She made two more starts in 2018, winning a pair of the Louisiana-bred races at Fair Grounds: the Happy Ticket in November and Louisiana Champions Day Ladies Sprint in December. Ours to Run, who races for Colonel Thoroughbreds, was named champion older female of 2018 by the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association.

“I was told she was three points shy of being their horse of the year,” said Larry Jones, who trains Ours to Run. “Her owners said, ‘Let’s try to get that this year.’ ”

◗ Ours to Run is off to a good start on that goal. She opened her 5-year-old season in February with a win in the $100,000 Louisiana Premier Night Matron at Delta Downs. In her only other start so far in 2019, she defeated open company in the Carousel on April 6.

◗ Ours to Run rallied from off the pace in the Carousel for a 3 3/4-length win. She covered six furlongs in the slop in 1:10.84.

“It was a really good race – and one of the best numbers she had run since we had her,” said Jones.

◗ Roberto Morales has the mount from post 7.

Our Millie, by Half Ours

(Last 3 Beyers: 74-47-71)

◗ She boasts a 4-for-7 record over the main track at Evangeline Downs, with her latest win coming May 4 in an optional $30,000 claiming sprint over the same distance as the Mademoiselle.

◗ Tim Thornton has the mount from post 5.
