Our Edge wires in Coronado's Quest

Our Edge ($6.60) led all the way in his jump up to stakes competition, holding off Gone Astray by a head to win the $70,000 Coronado's Quest Stakes for 3-year-olds at Monmouth Park.

Those two pulled away from Endymion, who was 2 1/4 lengths back in third. The time was 1:43.42 for the 1 1/16 miles.

Elvis Trujillo, the leading rider at Monmouth, was aboard for trainer Nick Zito as Our Edge, a son of The Cliff's Edge, made the successful leap from maiden win to a stakes victory.

"No one wanted to go with me from the break," Trujillo said. "He was going up the backstretch with his ears up and just enjoying himself. We put up soft fractions and had plenty left. I saw the other horse come up to me, but I knew I was home by then."

In the Juice was third followed by Aspiring Nick and Miles and Miles.

In the $60,000 Anderson Fowler Stakes for 3-year-olds. jockey Carlos Marquez Jr. found the best footing in the Monmouth Park slop and Beacon Hill Road did the rest.

Beacon Hill Road ($21.20), trained by Jason Servis, beat Southern Exchange by a half-length with Valiancy third. The time was 1:02.94 for the 5 1/2 furlongs originally scheduled for the turf.

"He broke running today and let them go, and I sat in a striking position," Marquez said. "I got a little worried around the five-sixteenths when they carried me out a little bit. That was probably the best part of the racetrack."

Perfect Officer was fourth followed by Bee Cee Cee, Slew of Smoke, Regardlesofoutcome, and Tweebie.
