SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Ottoman Fleet, a two-time graded stakes winner in the United States this year for Godolphin and trainer Charlie Appleby, returned to the work tab Friday morning. He went a half-mile in 53.63 seconds over the Oklahoma turf course, according to Daily Racing Form clocker Mike Welsch, but went his last quarter in 25.63 seconds and then galloped out extremely well. He is preparing for a start in either the Grade 1 Fourstardave here on Aug. 10 or a stakes at Woodbine.
Ottoman Fleet was one of five Godolphin-Appleby runners to breeze Friday. That included Belmont Oaks winner Cinderella’s Dream, who went three furlongs in 39.93 seconds as she prepares for the Grade 2 Saratoga Oaks on Aug. 2.
Eternal Hope, who last fall won the Jockey Club Oaks and Sands Point at Aqueduct, worked five furlongs in 1:05.69 in company with Beautiful Love, who has not run since winning an allowance at Meydan in February. Beautiful Love started about 1 1/2 lengths in front with Eternal Hope making up ground by the wire. Plans for those fillies have not yet been finalized.
Legend of Time, third in the Belmont Derby last out after winning the Pennine Ridge, went a half-mile in 53.22 seconds in preparation for the Saratoga Derby on Aug. 3.
“All pretty routine, straight-forward stuff,” said Alex Merriam, assistant to Appleby. “They all looked good.”
Godolphin’s next starter is expected to be Star Guest in next Thursday’s Caress Stakes here.
◗ Rich Strike, the 2022 Kentucky Derby winner, went three furlongs in 38 seconds Friday morning, his second published work since he joined trainer Bill Mott’s barn.
