The Ohio Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association (OTBO) is proud to host our first ever Online Auction of young horses, broodmares, and racing prospects! The auction will be conducted by Salering.net. Salering also hosts our annual Stallion Season Auction every December. Registration is fast and free and can be done right on the salering.net site. The preview will go live on September 19th with the auction starting on Sept. 23rd. This year we will have horses from exciting sires such as Hit it a Bomb, Smarty Jones, Bernstein, World of Trouble, Cloud Computing, Good Samaritan, Gormley, Outwork, Lord Nelson, Funtastic, Army Mule, Yoshida, and many more. Also included are foals from many of Ohio’s perennial leading sires. There are great broodmares as well including many in foal. “The OTBO is privileged to help leading Ohio Breeders showcase their tremendous young horses and breeding stock. The Ohio program represents incredible opportunities for both breeders and owners to participate in over $10 million in purses annually including 44 stakes for Ohio bred horses” said Mike Annechino, Executive Director of the OTBO. This year, the OTBO is also announcing that any broodmare purchased in this sale will receive a free season to any of the 15 stallions standing at Buckeye Stallion Station or Howlett Ranch! These include proven sires and exciting young prospects. The entire stallion list will be provided on the auction site. All Ohio bred horses passing through this sale will automatically become eligible for the annual $50,000 OTBO Sales Grad Stake conducted for 3 year olds at Mahoning Valley Racecourse. The 2025 edition will mark the 4th annual running of this stake. “Ohio breeders represent large operations as well as smaller ones who might only have 1-2 mares. Regardless of size, all of them always put the horses first and pour their hearts and soul into every horse on the farm. Nowhere will you find greater dedication and horsemanship than you will in the state of Ohio,” Annechino said. “We encourage everyone around the country to take a look at the horses in our sale and consider participating in the state bred program that offers the “best bang for the buck” in the racing business!” For more information, please go to salering.net.
