ETOBICOKE, Ontario — A funeral service will be held Monday for prominent Ontario owner-breeder William (Bill) Graham, who died of cancer on Jan. 15 at age 81. The owner of Windhaven Farm, Graham campaigned the Canadian champions Wavering Girl, Fantasy Lake and Cotton Carnival. He won the 1989 Canadian Oaks with Blondeinamotel, and took the Grade 1 Frizette with Proud Lou in 1981. Graham won last year’s Grade 3 Mazarine with Tiz Breathtaking, who is a contender for the 2018 Sovereign Award as Canadian champion 2-year-old filly. Graham was inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame as a builder, and served as a director on the Woodbine Entertainment board for 17 years. Last month, the Jockey Club of Canada announced that Graham, along with Gustav Schickedanz, was to be presented with the E.P. Taylor Award of Merit for lifelong dedication and commitment to thoroughbred racing and breeding in Canada. The funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Faith Gospel Tabernacle, 140 Salvation Road, in Brampton, Ontario.
