Ontario ends ban on Fla. Shippers

The Ontario Racing Commission has dropped its ban on horses shipping into Woodbine and Fort Erie from Florida, effective Friday.

Both tracks had announced Saturday that horses from Florida would not be permitted to enter their backstretches pending the resolution of reported cases of strangles, an infectious bacterial disease, in south Florida.

Shippers from all locations still must have a certificate of veterinary inspection and undergo a veterinary examination within 24 hours of their arrival.
