Only Boy earns win in Rowland Memorial Handicap

Only Boy, under Luis Gonzales, was just off the early quick pace before taking control four wide to win the $50,000 Michael Rowland Memorial Handicap at Thistledown Sunday afternoon.

Trained by Penny Rone, Only Boy had a perfect trip to draw off and win the six-furlong event for accredited Ohio-bred horses by 5 1/4 lengths. Raise the Reward was second, two lengths in front of Culpepper Creek in third. Both Raise the Reward and Culpepper Creek are trained by Jeff Radosevich.

The running time over a fast track was 1.12.06, and Only Boy returned $7.40 to win.
