One win among 7 babies

WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Northrnimprovement, the only winner in a field of seven, is the one to beat at Assiniboia Downs in Sunday's $25,000 North Dakota Futurity for 2-year-olds at six furlongs.

Trained by Chad Torevell, Northrnimprovement has raced four times. His win came two starts back in a restricted futurity at North Dakota Horse Park in Fargo on Aug. 8.

Most recently, Northrnimprovement finished fourth in the North Dakota Stallion Stakes here Aug. 22.

Northrnimprovement will race on Lasix for the first time as he breaks from the rail under Beth Butler.

Trainer Pete Davis sends out May's Moon, Could've Been Mine, and Howard's Fool.

May's Moon finished second in a maiden special weight at Fargo in her only start Aug. 14. She starts from post 2 under Tony Matteucci.

Could've Been Mine finished first in an allowance race at Chippewa Downs in North Dakota in his first start on June 20, but was disqualified and placed sixth for swerving in the stretch.

Most recently, Could've Been Mine finished third in a maiden special weight race at Fargo, a half-length behind stablemate May's Moon.

Could've Been Mine begins from post 5 with Larren Delorme to ride.

Howard's Fool finished third in a futurity at Chippewa in his only start on June 27. He breaks from post 6 with Keveh Nicholls aboard.

Buffalo Alice finished third, 11 1/4 lengths behind Northrnimprovement, at Fargo in her most recent outing. She starts from post 4 under Travis Hightower.

Pistol Wind was fourth, 15 lengths behind Northrnimprovement in her latest. Trained by Ardell Sayler, Pistol Wind begins from post 7 with Jason Leacock to ride.

Firehawk finished fifth, 24 lengths behind Northrnimprovement in his last race. Trained by Jack Robertson, Firehawk breaks from post 3 under Ken Hendricks.
