DEL MAR, Calif. – It was not until the final quarter-mile of Friday’s $200,345 Golden State Juvenile Fillies at Del Mar that One Fast Broad showed her devastating kick.

One Fast Broad was last in the field of nine to the turn and closed from five lengths off the pace to take the lead in the final sixteenth. One Fast Broad ($10.40) won the seven-furlong Golden State Juvenile Fillies for California-bred 2-year-old fillies by a length over 2-1 favorite Spiced Perfection.

“I let her gather herself up,” winning jockey Corey Nakatani said. “I was confident with what she’s able to do. Turning for home, she really set herself down.”

One Fast Broad was timed in 1:24.78.

Show It N Moe It, the winner of the CTBA Stakes here in August, finished third, followed by Ismelucky, Family Girl, Pulpit Rider, Smiling Tigress, Sharona Sunset, and Mama’s Kid.

Mama’s Kid and Ismelucky fought through an opening quarter-mile in 22.82 seconds. Ismelucky, the winner of the Barretts Debutante at Los Alamitos in September, led after a half-mile in 46.27 seconds but could not sustain her lead.

One Fast Broad trailed by about six lengths on the backstretch.

“I didn’t panic,” Nakatani said. “She got away a step slow.”

One Fast Broad, by Decarchy, races for Mick and Wendy Ruis and is trained by Mick Ruis. One Fast Broad won her debut here Aug. 4 and made her next two starts on turf, finishing second in the Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf on Sept. 4 and fourth in the Surfer Girl Stakes at Santa Anita on Oct. 9.

One Fast Broad has won 2 of 4 starts and earned $172,000.
