Om, Gold Rush Dancer work for stakes

ARCADIA, Calif. – The stakes winners Om and Gold Rush Dancer worked Wednesday at Santa Anita in advance of stakes.
Om worked five furlongs in 1:01.20. A 4-year-old, Om is scheduled to start in the $200,000 City of Hope Mile on Oct. 8. Trainer Dan Hendricks is hoping the City of Hope Mile will lead to a start for Om in the Breeders’ Cup Mile here Nov. 5.
Owned by K.B. Sareen, Om has won 5 of 13 starts and earned $614,845. He was second in the Grade 2 Del Mar Mile on Aug. 21 in his first start since March.
Gold Rush Dancer worked a half-mile in 48.60 seconds and is likely to run in the $200,000 Twilight Derby at 1 1/8 miles on turf Nov. 4. Trained by Vann Belvoir for John Parker, Gold Rush Dancer was 12th in the Grade 2 Del Mar Derby on Sept. 4, but was beaten only 4 1/4 lengths. Earlier this year, Gold Rush Dancer won three consecutive stakes for California-breds.
◗ Blame It On Alphie, fourth in the Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf earlier this month, has been sidelined with a bone chip in an ankle, trainer Richard Mandella said Wednesday. An operation on the ankle is scheduled for this weekend and will keep Blame It On Alphie out of action until 2017.
