Olympiad comes full circle, will stand at Gainesway

Grade 1 winner Olympiad is the latest Breeders' Cup Classic contender spoken for as a stallion as it was announced that Gainesway Farm will stand him upon his eventual retirement from racing.
Olympiad, who was bred by Emory Hamilton and offered as a Keeneland September yearling by the Gainesway consignment, now races for Grandview Equine, Cheyenne Stable, and LNJ Foxwoods. He has won six of seven outings this season, including five graded stakes.
The most recent score for the 4-year-old son of Speightstown came in the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup on Sept. 3 at Saratoga.
“I have been a huge fan of Olympiad since selling him as a yearling in 2019,” Gainesway's general manager Brian Graves said in a release. “Olympiad has backed up his exceptional looks and pedigree with a tremendous race record. I couldn’t be more excited to stand a horse of his quality and talent at Gainesway.”

Gainesway owns a racing interest in another Breeders' Cup Classic contender in Grade 1 winner Hot Rod Charlie, campaigning the colt with Roadrunner Racing, Boat Racing, and Strauss Bros Racing.
Among other candidates for the Nov. 5 Classic, multiple Grade 1 winner Life Is Good is set to retire to WinStar Farm for 2023, and as of now will command the highest fee for an incoming stallion in North America. Co-owner WinStar, which campaigns the colt with China Horse Club, announced that a limited number of seasons are currently available for the incoming stallion at $100,000, with that fee subject to change after the Breeders’ Cup.
Still unknown are the plans for unbeaten and unchallenged Classic favorite Flightline, whose stallion future will be at Lane’s End Farm, as the property of a syndicate. Whether he will continue to race or be retired to stud will be announced following the Classic, and he would certainly command a high fee in the current marketplace.
Classic hopeful Happy Saver will retire to Airdrie Stud following the race. Spendthrift Farm will stand multiple Grade 1 winner Cyberknife, who is considered likely for the Dirt Mile, but who does own an automatic berth in the Classic.
