Ollie's Candy will make return in Gamely

ARCADIA, Calif. - Ollie’s Candy will dive into the deep end on Memorial Day when she starts for the first time in nine months. After a big work Monday at Santa Anita, new trainer John Sadler confirmed the 4-year-old filly would start in the Grade 1 Gamely.
“It’s aggressive," Sadler said. "It’s her first race back and she’s going against older, but she looks pretty fit. She’s ready to go.”
Ollie’s Candy will face likely favorite Vasilika, shipper Rymska, and locals Ahimsa, Elysea’s World and Meal Ticket in the $500,000 Gamely, a 1 1/8-mile turf race. Ollie’s Candy's 3-year-old campaign for trainer Bill Morey included a Grade 2 victory on dirt in the Summertime Oaks, and a pair of Grade 2 runner-up finishes on turf in the Del Mar Oaks and San Clemente.
Ollie’s Candy worked six furlongs Monday in 1:14 and finished her final quarter in 24 seconds, according to Sadler. Joel Rosario will ride her on Monday.
Vasilika, with three graded stakes wins this year and 11 wins from her last 12 starts, worked six furlongs Tuesday morning at 5:30. Vasilika worked on the training track in company with Sunny Dale. Vasilika went in 1:15.80.
