Old Friends at Kentucky Downs opens

Old Friends at Kentucky Downs, a retirement facility and gift shop located adjacent to the Franklin, Ky., racetrack, opened Friday with five ex-racehorses on view.

The facility, a joint project between Old Friends and the racetrack, is offering daily tours and will sell merchandise benefiting the retirement efforts of Old Friends. The five retired horses who have been transferred to the facility from other Old Friends properties are Ball Four, Rumor Has It, Sgt. Bert, Thornfield, and Tour of the Cat.

Tours, which will be coordinated with the Simpson County Tourism Commission, will be offered every day except Monday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., the operators said.
