Old Fashioned top choice among single entries

The mutuel field continued as a solid favorite midway through the second of four days in Pool 1 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager.

As of 4 p.m. Eastern on Friday, and after $89,371 was bet into the win-only wager, the field, the 24th or "all others" option, was the 3-2 favorite, followed by Old Fashioned (6-1), Pioneerof the Nile (13-1), Midshipman (18-1), Silver City (19-1), Friesan Fire (21-1), and The Pamplemousse (22-1).

The field has closed as the Pool 1 favorite every year since Churchill Downs first began offering parimutuel futures in 1999. Pool 1 closes Sunday at 6 p.m.

Derby Pool 2 is set for March 12-15, and Pool 3 will run April 2-5. Exacta wagering will be available in those pools.
