Oklahoma Derby, Springboard Mile top stakes schedule
The Grade 3, $400,000 Oklahoma Derby on Sept. 25 and the $400,000 Springboard Mile on Dec. 17 will be the co-richest races during the Remington Park meet that opens next month, the Oklahoma City track announced Friday.
Remington released its stakes schedule for the 67-date meet that runs from Aug. 19 to Dec. 17. There are 34 stakes for the new season worth a total of more than $3.5 million.
The Oklahoma Derby, which will be run at 1 1/8 miles, will anchor a card of eight stakes worth a total of $1.1 million. The program will include the Grade 3, $200,000 Remington Park Oaks at 1 1/16 miles, the $150,000 David M. Vance for 3-year-olds and up at six furlongs, and the $100,000 Remington Green for 3-year-olds and up at 1 1/8 miles.

The Springboard Mile, which has traditionally awarded points for the Kentucky Derby, will be showcased on a card of six stakes. It includes the $100,000 Trapeze for 2-year-old fillies at a mile. There are two local preps leading up to the Springboard Mile, the $75,000 Kip Deville on the undercard of the Oklahoma Derby and the $100,000 Clever Trevor on Oct. 28.
The $1 million Oklahoma Classics Night program for Oklahoma-bred horses is Oct. 21. It features eight divisional stakes led by the $175,000 Oklahoma Classics Cup for 3-year-olds and up over 1 1/16 miles.
The stakes schedule launches Aug. 19 with the $175,000 Governor’s Cup for 3-year-olds and up at 1 1/8 miles.
