Okie Ride wins Turf Sprint for third straight year

Okie Ride won the $50,000 Remington Park Turf Sprint for the third year in a row on Friday night, when he held off a surging Perfect to Please. Okie Ride won by a half-length over that rival, while it was another three lengths back to Shellac in third.
The Remington Park Turf Sprint was for 3-year-olds and up bred in Oklahoma.
Okie Ride ($5.20), 8, settled off 11-year-old pacesetter Fifth Date through an opening quarter in 21.87 seconds. The winner then pressed that one on the turn, was in control through a half-mile in 44.49 seconds, and went on to cover the five furlongs on firm turf in 56.15 seconds.
Luis Quinonez was aboard Okie Ride for the Richter Family Trust and trainer Kenneth Nolen.
