Offspring by City Zip, Daredevil work fastest to kick off OBS June preview
A filly by late sire City Zip and a colt from the first crop of Daredevil turned in the fastest times at their respective distances during the first of five under-tack preview sessions for the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s June sale of 2-year-olds in training and horses of racing age.
The City Zip filly worked a furlong, the traditional yardstick at 2-year-old sales, in 9 4/5 seconds on Wednesday on the Ocala Training Center's all-weather Safetrack surface. The filly, who is consigned by Mark White, as agent, is the first foal out of the winning Candy Ride mare Court Appeal, a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Mani Bhavan, Grade 2 winner Hear the Ghost, Grade 1-placed stakes winner Closing Bell, and stakes-placed Dattt Echo. Canadian champion Silken Cat, the dam of champion Speightstown, appears on the catalog page.
The Daredevil colt, who is consigned by Ciaran Dunne's Wavertree Stables, as agent, worked a quarter-mile in 20 3/5 seconds during Wednesday's session. He is the first foal out of the U S Ranger mare Bible, whose dam is a full sister to Grade 1 winner Corinthian and a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Desert Hero and stakes producer Triple Act. This is the family of Grade 1 winner Jade Robbery.
