ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Minimum Forty hasn’t done much wrong in her three starts and should be odds-on in Thursday’s fifth race at Woodbine, a nonwinners-of-three sprint combining Ontario-sired allowance types with $40,000 claimers. Minimum Forty made quite a splash when debuting on Nov. 22 of her sophomore season. After putting away the other speed in the six-furlong event, she drew off to score by 5 1/4 lengths while getting a 76 Beyer Speed Figure. After getting the winter off, Minimum Forty was heavily favored in a nonwinners-of-two allowance with a claiming option on opening day, April 18. Once again, she vied for the lead before pulling away to prevail by 4 3/4 lengths with a 68 Beyer. Minimum Forty landed in a spot with ample other speed in a 5 1/2-furlong dash at this level May 15. After getting bumped at the break, she tracked Brittany’s Way in second and then hit the front in midstretch before ending up second to Girls Weekend. Daisuke Fukumoto will ride Minimum Forty again from post 1 for owner-breeder 3 Sons Racing Stable and trainer Robert Tiller. :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! DRF Past Performances and Picks are available now. Lining up outside Minimum Forty in the six-furlong contest will be Wozniacki, Mrs. C, Arianna’s Tour, Reach for the Top, and Mobula. Wozniacki had a productive 3-year-old campaign last year, during which she won 2 of 7 starts and nearly $100,000. She won her debut last June and a nonwinners-of-two Ontario-sired allowance on Nov. 2. When returning from a winter layoff May 15, Wozniacki raced wide throughout over an inside-favoring track, finishing a flat fifth behind Girls Weekend and Minimum Forty. Pietro Moran has the mount on Wozniacki for the brother and sister owners Joshua and Taylor Attard, the grandchildren of trainer Tino Attard. Mrs. C has been sidelined since a wide runner-up placing in December of 2024, the last race in her fruitful 11-race campaign that year. She has been working right along for trainer Mike DePaulo, who has a 12 percent strike rate with six-month-plus layoff runners in the past five years, with a return on investment of $1.92. Arianna’s Tour won her debut last August and then went to the bench after ending up fourth in the Sept. 14 Victorian Queen Stakes for Ontario-sired 2-year-old fillies. Off an eight-month absence May 16, she went gate to wire against nonwinners-of-two company while earning a 66 Beyer. The pace scenario figures to be more taxing on this occasion, probably to her detriment. Reach for the Top is ambitiously spotted off a prominent second against $15,000 nonwinners-of-three stock in her season opener. Mobula made all the running versus $25,000 nonwinners-of-three opposition on May 30, only to get her number taken down for interference early in the race. She was placed sixth, a disqualification which is under appeal. Post time for the first Thursday card of the meet is 3 p.m. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
