Jaxon Traveler, last year's champion Maryland-bred 2-year-old male, pushed a fast pace from the outside and drove clear in the stretch to take the $75,000 Star de Naskra for 3-year-olds at six furlongs. The Star de Naskra was one of four stakes for Maryland-bred or -sired horses on the 10-race Maryland Strong program. Jaxon Traveler only faced two other foes following the scratches of Exculpatory and Kenny Had a Notion. He broke on top under Sheldon Russell but was immediately confronted from the inside by speedy Cry No More. Those two whipped through splits of 22.56 and 44.94 seconds over the fast main track with Concern Stakes winner Alwaysinahurry outrun in third. Jaxon Traveler asserted himself at the three-sixteenths pole and went on to prevail by three lengths in 1:10.21. Alwaysinahurry was up for second over a tiring Cry No More. Jaxon Traveler paid $3 as the betting favorite. "He's a forward-going horse," Russell said in a post-race interview broadcast by Pimlico. "Obviously the plan was to bang him out of there and see where we're at. Being on the outside, you could see he was always comfortable." :: Bet the races with confidence on DRF Bets. Find Stakes Last on the rail with three-eighths to race, Somekindofmagician pulled a rabbit out of his hat to win the $75,000 Find at 1 1/16 miles over yielding turf. Rejuvenated at the ripe age of 7, Somekindofmagician has won three races in a row for Bell Gable Stable and trainer Gary Contessa. "His last two wins were for $20,000 claiming," Contessa said. "He's gotten so much better and he needed that. He had a long, dry spell without winning a race and each win, I've watched him improve drastically." Somekindofmagician settled at the back of the pack under Angel Cruz as Trifor Gold doled out rated fractions of 25.02 and 50.72. Trifor Gold held the lead at the three-sixteenths pole, but it was apparent he was fading over the boggy going. Somekindofmagician angled to split horses four wide in the upper stretch and surged down the center of the track to complete the distance in 1:48.10. He paid $21.60 to win as the fifth choice in the betting. "Everything went his way," Contessa said. "Sometimes horses get in trouble. Every move Angel Cruz made was the right one. He got through pretty much unscathed, and we knew we had a big shot turning for home." Nick Papagiorgio finished 1 3/4 lengths back in second. It was another neck to Alwaysmining in third. Trifor Gold lasted for fourth. Favored Cannon's Roar, wide for much of the way, never mustered a strong kick and came home fifth. Benny Havens and Closer Look competed the order of finish. Somekindofmagician won for the sixth time in his 33-race career. He finished second in the 2017 Maryland Million Turf when trained by Michael Trombetta and was the runner-up in the 2019 edition of that race when conditioned by Jamie Ness. Miss Disco Stakes Malibu Beauty won for the fourth time in her last six starts when she scored the $75,000 Miss Disco for 3-year-old fillies at six furlongs A homebred daughter of Buffum campaigned by Z W P Stable and Non Stop Stable, Malibu Beauty broke sharp as the odds-on favorite in the four-horse field. She set fractions of 23.26 and 46.56 seconds while pressured from the outside by Response Time, shook clear of that rival turning into the stretch, and was never threatened. Malibu Beauty completed the distance in 1:11.48 while 4 1/2 lengths better than runner-up Hitch a Ride. My My Girl was a nose back in third followed by Response Time. Malibu Beauty paid $2.80 to win. All Brandy Stakes Jockey Victor Carrasco's patience paid off as Kiss the Girl overcame some traffic on the second turn to nip Awesome Jazz in the $75,000 All Brandy for fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles on turf. Trained by Trombetta for Three Diamonds Farm, Kiss the Girl saved ground in mid-pack as Forever Dreaming posted fractions of 23.78 and 48.53 while pressed by Artful Splatter. Kiss the Girl crept into the pocket exiting the backstretch but was stuck behind a tiring Forever Dreaming and was forced to steady. Meanwhile, Awesome Jazz uncorked a four-wide move to take command at the five-sixteenths pole and opened a commanding lead. Carrasco moved through an opening on the inside, eased to the outer flank of Awesome Jazz in late stretch and resolutely prevailed by a neck in 1:48.53 over the yielding going. Holly's Lady, who acted up behind the gate before the race, finished another length back in third. They were followed by Good Life Cider, Quiet Company, Judi Blue Eyes, Artful Splatter, Forever Dreaming, Breviary, and Dendrobia.  Kiss the Girl paid $12.20 to win as the fourth choice in the wagering. Kiss the Girl, a 4-year-old daughter of Into Mischief, earned her first turf and first route victory in the All Brandy. She finished second in the Grade 3 Schuylerville as a 2-year-old and captured the Conniver Stakes on dirt earlier this year. :: Get Daily Racing Form Past Performances – the exclusive home of Beyer Speed Figures "The owner tried her on the grass before we received her to train and he wasn't satisfied that she had her best opportunity," Trombetta said. "So, he wanted us to revisit it and it took a couple of starts for her to fall into place, but he was certainly convinced that she could do it." * Earlier on the card, H P Moon, a 2-year-old son of Malibu Moon out of a half-sister to Travers winner West Coast, graduated by 9 3/4 lengths in his career debut. Trained by Lacey Gaudet for K E M Racing Stable and Five Hellions Farm, H P Moon was scheduled to start at Saratoga on July 31 but was scratched at the gate when the horse identifier was not comfortable that the listed markings matched the horse. H P Moon showed big speed from the start under Jevian Toledo, carved out fractions of 23.10 and 45.62, then breezed home under virtually no urging. H P Moon polished off the six furlongs in 1:10.76 seconds and paid $2.80.
