Oceanside attracting a lot of interest

The stakes winners Aotearoa, Diamond Bachelor, Enterprising, Forever Juanito, G.G. Ryder, and Home Run Kitten are among the nominees for the $100,000 Oceanside Stakes on Thursday’s opening day at Del Mar. Also nominated are the stakes-placed runners Argyle Cut, Friendswith K Mill, Home School, Ontology, and Patriots Rule.
The race is likely to be divided into divisions, which has been common in recent years. The Oceanside Stakes is run over a mile on turf for 3-year-olds.
Texas Ryano is expected to run and will receive strong support. He won an allowance race over 1 1/8 miles on turf at Santa Anita on June 13 in his first start since February.
Home Run Kitten is in sharp form. Trained by David Hofmans, Home Run Kitten has won his last two starts, both in one-mile turf races at Santa Anita. He won an optional claimer May 18 and the Singletary Stakes on June 21.
There is at least one stakes per day on the first four days of the Del Mar meeting. The richest race of the first week is the $300,000 Eddie Read Stakes at 1 1/8 miles on turf July 20.
