Ocean Downs: Doubles for Foster, Ahle in Maryland Sire Stakes finals

Drivers Russell Foster and Johnathan Ahle each had a pair of victories in the $100,000 Maryland Sire Stakes finals for 3-year-old that headlined Wednesday night's program at Ocean Downs.

Trotting filly Progressivekathy and Foster won by 5 3/4 lengths after they led through stations of 29 2/5, 59 1/5 and 1:28 4/5. Twisted Janet (Corey Braden) was second, followed by More Than Tipsy. Ronald Millman-trained Progressivekathy, bred by owner Dr. Scott Woogen, now has six career wins, has earned $154,558 and paid $2.20 to win.

Gelding trotter Booger Bear (Ahle) tracked fellow Richard Hans trainee Y'all Got No Shot (Foster) to the quarter in 29 1/5, the half in 58 1/5 and the three-quarters in 1:27, angled out on the final bend and went by in the lane en route to a 2 1/4 length triumph in 1:56 2/5. Y'all Got No Shot was second and Convicted Criminal (Brandon Givens) grabbed third. Hans also bred and owns Booger Bear, who is by Yall Beneath Me. Booger Bear has a summary of 5-5-0 from 11 tries, has pocketed $147,383 and returned $5.20 to win.

Ahle was right back to win in the filly pace as he guided That'sloveto on the front-end through fractions of 27 4/5, 57 3/5 and 1:26 4/5, and they staved off a two-pronged attack in the stretch to tally by three-quarters of a length in 1:56. I Say That Too (Braden) was the runner-up and More Than Better (Foster) checked in third. Bred, owned and trained by Dominik Miga, the victorious daughter of Dapper Dude made her sixth trip to the winner's circle in her tenth outing, has put away $126,862 and paid $3 to win.

Foster's double was completed after Dapper Time showed the way through a tempo of 28, 58 1/5 and 1:26 4/5, then closed it out in 29 1/5 to defeat pocket-sitter Coach Cooley (Shane Griffith) by a length and a half. Better Gon (Tony Morgan) overcame an early break to grab third. Dapper Time, also by Dapper Dude, was bred by Micki Rae Stables LLC. and Tim Twaddle and is trained by Jason Walters for owners Anthony Sapienza, Melissa Beckwith and Nancy Longobardi. Dapper Time now has a pair of victories from 16 lifetime starts, has banked $77,866 and returned $5.40 to win.
