Race 6: Winners of 2-4 races lifetime Pace
(1) HILARIOUS HANK has fit in perfectly at Ocean since shipping in from Minnesota and he draws the rail after beating this class last week. He’ll face a serious challenge from (4) AGENT HARLEY, who was second recently in a 1:53 1/5 mile and will probably be overbet as a result.
Race 8: Winners over $5,500 in last 4 starts Pace
(2) ROCK SOLID BET was a rock-solid uncovered winner in last week’s overnight co-feature and overall he’s performed very well for this barn since that $25K claim back in June. He likely faces a more stubborn foe on the front end in (1) BABES ALL IN but he’s sharp enough to win again.
Monday, August 17
Two-year-olds in MD Sire Stakes action tonight, one division for trotters and two for pacers. In race 1 for C&G trotters trainer Herman Hagerman seems to have a stranglehold on the others with two of the five, and they face first-timers that likely need more seasoning.
Race 2: MDSS for 2YO C&G Pacers
Looks like a two-horse affair with (5) CASH IS BETTER, who was a 1:56 2/5 winner in Sire Stakes action, and (4) FREE SHOT, who was second in a separate division in 1:57 4/5. Mutuels won’t offer much as these two seem to lay over the rest but maybe a cold tri with (3) LOVETHATSOUP could net a few more dollars.
Race 4: MDSS for 2YO C&G Pacers
(5) SHOOTOUT is by far the most accomplished of these, but (4) OCTAVIAN could be worth a peek as he switches to a much more experienced driver in Russell Foster after breaking all over the track in his Ocean Downs debut. He did take some money in that race as he went off at 7/2.
