Ocean Downs: Analysis for Sunday 7/12 and Monday 7/13

Matt Rose|Jul 11, 2026

SUNDAY, JULY 12 and MONDAY, JULY 13, 2026

STATS: 9-27 / $34.40 (-$19.60)

Sunday, July 12

Race 4: NW2501 in last 4 starts Pace

(1) SWORDFROMTHESTONE arrived from Prince Edward Island where he had been competing at Charlottetown and Summerside with limited success, joined a local barn here, was off over a month but it didn’t matter as he was a solid winner off a long trip. He steps up in class but I’ll give him the call to come right back. (2) TWIN B LOUDACRIS finished third in three of his last four and with a smooth trip seems capable of hitting the ticket again. (6) MIKI IS ALL IN double-drops in class, was Brandon Givens’ choice but needs to generate some early speed for his best chance.

Race 7: Winners of 2 but not more than 4 races lifetime Pace

(1) WICKED VALUE could only muster a couple of thirds in his two starts after stepping up to this level but he lands the rail here and figures to trip out behind the favorite, who could be stung a bit in the early stages. (4) MAKING HISTORY was tons the best last week as the heavy favorite but he’s got some speed to his inside and may be used harder to the front than driver Plante Jr. would like.

Monday, July 13

Race 5: Maryland Sire Stakes 3YO C&G Preliminary 2 – 2nd division Pace

I thought last week (2) BETTER GON had license to be shaky as the heavy favorite but he proven TONS the best and the same holds true tonight. The exacta with #1 figures to be hammered so I’ll take a stab with (7) MICHELLE’S KYLE sneaking onto the ticket. He’s got a brutal post to work with but he’s clearly better than the rest of these.

Race 6: Open Handicap Trot

(3) LITTLE TOWN ROAD is a mare facing mostly boys but that doesn’t bother me at all when it comes to trotters. The Dunning trainee returns from Monticello and she’s been plenty competitive with this type in the past. Post edge gives her the call. (7) BLACK HOPE and (6) DYLADMAR both arrive from Harrington where they were arguably facing better and they will attract attention here but neither have shown the propensity to overcome outside posts. (4) YALL KEEP DREAMING was a killer as a youngster on the MD Sire Stakes scene but he faces more seasoned foes and likely needs a start or two.
