Ocean Downs: Analysis for Sunday 6/28 and Monday 6/29
?q=100)
SUNDAY, JUNE 28 and MONDAY, JUNE 29, 2026
STATS: 6-20 / $27.20 (-$12.80)
Sunday, June 28
Race 1: NW1 race or $5,000 lifetime Pace
(1) SPECIAL MAC showed some forward progress last week when he rallied wide in the final turn and picked off a few for third. He hasn’t shown much early speed in his brief career but from the rail it’s hard to imagine him being too far back at any point. If he can protect position off the gate and yield to just one horse he can be set up nicely from the pocket. I’m looking for (3) AGENT HARLEY to be that frontrunner. He made his first start off the bench from a tough spot at Philly and not much was expected of him but he kept right up with the pack. Tonight he can be driven with intent. (2) SOMTHN IN DA AIR was the selection last week but he broke leaving; that miscue could alter his strategy tonight.
Race 5: Winners over $5,000 in last 4 starts or $100,000 lifetime Pace
(3) SOCIAL DRINKER stepped back up to this level last start and not only cleared the front from the outside post but drew away in late in a solid performance. Jenny Bier trainee can come right back for another having drawn inside his main competition. Since we aren’t seeing 11/1 tonight I’ll try to hook him up in an exacta with (5) METALLICA, who always seems too far back to make a serious impact but he gets a new driver in Brandon Givens and it would be no surprise to see him on the move earlier.
Monday, June 29
Race 1: NW2 races or $12,000 lifetime Trot
(3) BARSTOOL BEAUTY was much the best on paper and much the best on the track when she made her Ocean debut last week, except she broke while opening up on the field on the final turn. Andrews trainee faces a dull bunch here and deserves another chance.
Race 2: NW1 race or $5,000 lifetime Pace
This is a maiden affair where the losses pile up quickly so I’ll lean towards a couple of potential prices in (8) FAST WILLIE, who has been live in his last three races including his last two from the outside. If he can somehow get towed into this things could get interesting. (4) THAT’S TOO FUNNY comes in from Harrington and was Milby’s choice. He’s shown moderate improvement over his last few and could appreciate the change in venue..
Daily Double play (Races 1-2): 3 / 4,8
