Ocala under-tack: Three go quarter-mile in 20.6 seconds

Three fast quarter-mile workers led a day packed with speedy workout times Thursday at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s third under-tack session for the company’s spring 2-year-old sale next week.

Two fillies and a colt had the quickest quarter-mile time, 20.6 seconds. They were Hip No. 602, a Safe in the U S A filly out of Just Call Me Berty; Hip No. 711, a Horse Greeley colt out of Mattie Camp; and Hip No. 714, a Freud daughter of Maya’s Note.
One juvenile, a son of Smooth Jazz and out of Little Bertie cataloged as Hip No. 602, posted the top three-eighths-mile time of 34 seconds.

But 16 youngsters ran up the day’s fastest one-furlong time of 10 seconds flat. They were Hip No. 623, an Orientate-Kuanyan filly; Hip No.641, a Songandaprayer-Launch the Rocket colt; Hip No. 643, a Simon Pure-Legally Insane filly; Hip No. 648, a Street Sense-Leona’s Knight filly; Hip No. 673, a City Zip-Love Boot colt; Hip No. 685, a Greeley’s GalaxyMaggie’s Pearle filly; Hip No. 698, a Wildcat Heir-Marbleous Routine filly; Hip No. 724, a Freud-Mighty Good colt; Hip No. 731, an Orientate-Mir Cat colt; Hip No. 746, a Henny Hughes-Miss Smart Strike gelding; Hip No. 756, a Whywhywhy-Monaree filly; Hip No. 782, a Wildcat Heir-Nasty Sabina filly; Hip No. 840, a Forestry-Penilee colt; Hip No. 850, a Bernstein-Phantom Income filly; Hip No. 863, a Lawyer Ron-Pondering filly; and Hip No. 878, a filly by The Green Monkey out of Pretty Ready.

The OBS spring 2-year-old sale will take place April 23-26 with each session beginning at 10:30 a.m. The under-tack shows were to continue through Friday, starting daily at 8 a.m. Hip Nos. 899-1196 were to breeze Friday.
