Ocala under-tack show displays parity of juveniles in catalog
The pre-sale under-tack show for the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s spring sale of 2-year-olds in training showcased the parity of the juveniles in the catalog, and of the sire power represented in that book. On a crowded leaderboard, 20 juveniles by 19 different sires shared the bullet work for a furlong at the breeze show, all going in 9 4/5 seconds.
The only stallion represented with multiple horses in that bullet group at the breeze show, which took place over six sessions from Monday through Saturday on the Ocala Training Center's all-weather Safetrack surface in Florida, was two-time reigning leading sire and emerging sire of sires Into Mischief. The Spendthrift Farm resident was represented by two fillies in that group of 20; his son Practical Joke, a freshman this season for Coolmore's Ashford Stud, also had a filly to work in 9 4/5.

Practical Joke's fellow freshmen Bird Song, Midnight Storm, and Union Jackson all had colts among the bullet-working group. Completing the crowded leaderboard were colts by Cairo Prince, Kobe's Back, Speightstown, Twirling Candy, Upstart, and Violence; and fillies by Daredevil, Dialed In, Frosted, Fury Kapcori, Liam's Map, Outwork, Temple City, and Uncaptured.
The leaderboard was less crowded among those juveniles to work a quarter-mile, but again showcased the depth of sires in the catalog, surfacing two other names to share the bullet. Fillies by Classic Empire and Cupid, both first-crop juveniles sires at Ashford, worked in 20 2/5 seconds.
