Ocala Stud doubling fee for High Cotton

Mike O’Farrell’s Ocala Stud Farm on Ocala, Fla., has raised High Cotton’s fee from $2,500 to $5,000 on the strength of his first crop’s performance this year at the races.

High Cotton is Florida’s leading first-crop sire and North America’s eighth-ranked freshman this year. His leading runner from that first crop is Currency Swap, winner this year of the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes. He is also the sire of graded-placed Tarpy’s Goal. High Cotton is an 8-year-old son of Dixie Union and the A. P. indy mare Happy Tune.

Ocala Stud will keep its four other stallions, including Montbrook, at their 2011 fee levels. Montbrook will stand for $7,500, In Summation for $4,000, and Gottcha Gold and Silver Tree each will stand for $2,500 in 2012.
