OBS winter mixed sale catalog now online

The catalog for the 2014 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. winter mixed sale is now online, featuring a selection of 792 horses.

The three-day sale will be held Wednesday, Jan. 22-24 in Ocala, Fla., with each session beginning at 10:30 a.m. Eastern.

Opening the sale will be a consignor-preferred session, consisting of 254 cataloged entries. Following on Jan. 23 will be a horses of racing age segment, comprising 188 entries, and the sale will close on Jan. 24 with an open session.

The horses of racing age section will include 35 newly-turned 2-year-olds and 153 older horses. An optional under-tack show will be held Monday, Jan. 20 at 10 a.m.

OBS is still accepting supplemental nominations, to be sold as hips 444-500.

Last year’s OBS winter mixed sale was topped by Falling Sky, a 3-year-old Lion Heart colt who sold to Justin Casse, agent, for $425,000. Falling Sky went on to win the Grade 3 Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs that spring and compete in the 2013 Kentucky Derby.

The OBS Championship Stakes races, run this year for the first time in conjunction with the winter mixed sale, are set for Tuesday, Jan. 21
