OBS spring sale: Run Away and Hide colt fastest of the day at third breeze show

A colt by Run Away and Hide turned in the fastest furlong of the day during the third session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. spring 2-year-olds in training sale’s under-tack show, covering the distance in a blistering :9.60 seconds.

The bay colt is out of winning Grand Slam mare Regal Bird, who has produced one winner from as many to race. Consigned by Old South Farm, agent, the colt’s notable family members include Grade 2 winner Kimberlite Pipe, Grade 3-placed stakes winner Secret Advice, and Grade 3-placed winners Storm Ring and Ghost Ring.

He is the second horse to register a time of :9.60 seconds over an eighth of a mile during the first three of four days of the OBS April breeze show. A City Zip filly, out of winning Petionville mare Danse Kongo, was the first to set the time during Tuesday’s first session.

An In Summation filly turned in the fastest overall time for two furlongs through first three under-tack sessions, covering a quarter mile in :20.60 seconds over the Ocala Training Center’s synthetic Safetrack surface.

The dark bay or brown colt, consigned by Azpurua Stables, agent, is out of Dove Hunt mare Load Up, who is the dam of five winners from as many to race. He is a half-brother to Grade 3-placed winner St. Joe, and his page also includes Group 1 winner Fletcher, Grade 3 winner Mocha Express, and Group 1-placed La Chella and Lamorlaye.

The OBS spring sale’s breeze show concludes tomorrow, beginning at 8 a.m. Eastern. The four-day sale will commence on Monday, April 22, with each session beginning at 10:30 a.m.
