OBS spring: Four tie for fastest furlong during third under-tack show

The Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. spring 2-year-olds in training sales’ under-tack show hit its halfway point on Wednesday with a quartet of juveniles tying for the fastest time at an eighth of a mile, at 9 4/5 seconds.

The horses breezed over the Ocala Training Center’s all-weather Safetrack surface.

Following are the four horses to tie for the co-fastest furlong of the day.

– Hip 478, a first-crop Strong Mandate filly out of the stakes-winning Macho Uno mare Holy Reina, whose first foal to race is a winner. Her third dam is the champion Flanders, who is the pivot point for runners including champion Surfside, Grade 2 winners Battle Plan and Open Water, and Grade 3 winnrs Irish Surf and High Celebrity. Niall Brennan Stables consigns the filly, as agent.

– Hip 552, a Kantharos colt out of the unraced Best of the Bests mare La Catira Jatar, who is the dam of two winners from three foals to race. The Florida-bred's family includes Canadian champion Santa Amelia, Chilean classic-placed Carry and Grade 2 winner Allende. He is consigned by Off The Hook, as agent.

– Hip 598, a Sidney’s Candy filly out of the unraced Danzig mare Like a River, who is the dam of two winners from three foals to race. Bred in Florida, the filly hails from the family of Grade 1 winners By Land By Sea and Cash Included, Grade 2 winners Bauble Queen and Lord Flasheart, and Grade 3 winners Fahal and Covey Trace. Hemingway Racing and Training Stables consigns her, as agent.

– Hip 606, an Into Mischief filly out of the placed Medaglia d'Oro mare Loveofalifetime, whose first foal to race is a winner. The page features Grade 1 winner Ogygian, and Grade 3 winners Savorthetime, Rogue Romance, and Island Bound. Paul Sharp consigns the filly, as agent.

The fastest juvenile of the day at a quarter-mile was Hip 531, a Kantharos colt who went in 20 4/5 seconds.

The chestnut colt is out of the unraced Friendly Lover mare Jungle Love, who is the dam of one winner from two runners. The Florida-bred is from the family of Grade 1 winner Set Play, Grade 2 winner Hello Liberty, and Grade 3 winners Hay Dakota, Significant Form, and With a Twist. De Meric Sales consigns the colt, as agent.

The OBS Spring under-tack show continues daily through Saturday, beginning each day at 8 a.m. Eastern. The auction will be held April 24-27, with a 10:30 a.m. start time.
