OBS Spring: Four clock fastest furlong on breeze show’s first day

DRF Breeding Staff|Apr 15, 2014

A quartet of fillies registered the fastest time for an eighth of a mile on Monday during the first under-tack show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. spring sale of 2-year-olds in training, covering the distance in :9 4/5 seconds.

The four fillies, by Cowtown Cat, Warrior’s Reward, Flatter, and Cool Coal Man, completed their breezes in the co-fastest times of the day over the Ocala Training Center’s synthetic Safetrack surface.

The Cowtown Cat filly is out of the unraced Five Star Day mare Five Star Annie. Bred in Florida by Brenda Jones and Silver Oaks Farm, who also bred the dam, the filly is a sibling to one winner from one to race. She is consigned as agent by Silver Star.

The Warrior’s Reward filly is out of the stakes-winning Comic Strip mare G G’s Dolly, who has produced one winner from two foals to race. The filly was bred in Ontario by Spendthrift Farm, and will be consigned by King’s Equine as agent for the breeder.

The Flatter filly is out of the winning Southern Halo mare Hurricane Hannah. Eisaman Equine, agent, consigns the filly, who is a sibling to four winners from as many to race out of the dam. She was bred in Kentucky by Eico Stable.

The Cool Coal Man filly is out of the unraced Seattle Sleet mare Inaspecial Way, who is the dam of five winners from six foals to race including stakes-placed Forbidden Bear. Bred in Florida by Mary George, the filly is consigned by Halcyon Hammock Farm, agent.

One juvenile topped the list among those to breeze two furlongs, a Temple City colt out of the winning Mr. Greeley mare Juneau, going in :20 4/5. Bred and consigned as agent by Off The Hook LLC, the colt is a sibling to three winners from as many foals to race, including stakes-placed Alaska Miss.

The OBS spring under-tack show will continue through Thursday, April 18, beginning each day at 8 a.m. Eastern. The sale will be held April 21-24, starting at 10:30 a.m. Eastern.
