OBS March: Six to watch on Day One

Hip No. 29, chestnut filly, by Stormy Atlantic – Raffie’s Dream, by Raffie’s Majesty, consigned by de Meric Sales, agent.

A full sister to Grade 3 winner Stormy’s Majesty, this filly is out of the stakes-placed winning Raffie’s Majesty mare Raffie’s Dream, whose first two foals to race have been multiple winners. The New York-bred filly completed her one-furlong breeze in :10.20 seconds, and comes from the family of stakes winners including Mt. Majesty, Winmor Miss, Ofelia Girl, Mor Chances, Tenmor, Mr. Morris, and Your Excellence.

Hip No. 48, dark bay or brown colt, by Malibu Moon – Runaway Ransom, by Cherokee Run, consigned by Halcyon Hammock Farm, agent.

The first foal out of the Cherokee Run mare Runaway Ransom, who is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Devil May Care (also by Malibu Moon) and Grade 2 winner Regal Ransom. Farther down the page is Grade 2 winner Minister Eric and Grade 3 winners Pico Teneriffe and Salmon Ladder. He completed an eighth-mile breeze in 10 seconds flat during the pre-sale under-tack show.

Hip No. 58, chestnut colt, by Henny Hughes – Sea Gift, by A.P. Indy, consigned by Southern Chase Farm, agent.

This colt turned the fastest overall quarter-mile time during the breeze show, covering the distance in :20.60 seconds over the Ocala Training Center’s synthetic surface. He is out of the winning A.P. Indy mare Sea Gift, who has produced two winners from four to race, and his notable family members include Group 1 winner Toylsome, Grade 2 winner Dance Parade, and Grade 3 winner Ocean Queen.

Hip No. 93, dark bay or brown filly, by Colonel John – Storm Key, by Storm Cat, consigned by Day Vista Farms, agent for Fifty Shades of Racing.

One of several horses to tie for the fastest one-furlong breeze of the pre-sale under-tack show, finishing in :9.80 seconds. This filly is out of the Storm Cat mare Storm Key, who has sent seven foals to race, with six winners, including 2008 King’s Bishop Stakes runner-up Desert Key. Other notable family members include the filly’s second dam, Grade 1 winner Nine Keys, as well as Grade 1 winner Silver Voice and Grade 2 winner Clef d’Argent.

Hip No. 98, chestnut filly, by High Cotton – Sunshine Song, by War Chant, consigned by SGV Thoroughbreds, agent.

A New York-bred filly out of the War Chant mare Sunshine Song, who is the dam of Grade 3 winner and current Kentucky Derby prospect Den’s Legacy. Her second dam, the stakes-winning Settlement Day mare Remember the Day, was an especially productive broodmare, whose foals include Grade 1 winner C.S. Silk, Grade 3 winner Remember Sheikh, multiple stakes winner Memory Tap, and winner Since Time Began, who herself produced Grade 3 winner Victorina. The filly registered a time of :10.20 over an eighth-mile during the under-tack show.

Hip No. 157, bay colt, by Elusive Quality – Agatha, by Distorted Humor, consigned by SAB Sales, agent.

The first foal out of the Distorted Humor mare Agatha, who is a half-sister to Japanese champion Hishi Akebono, English and French Group 1 winner Agnes World, and multiple stakes winner My Sea Castles. Other successful family members include Group 1 winners Dubai Destination and Librettist, as well as Group 2 winner Tatra. He turned in a :10.20-second workout over one furlong during the breeze show.
