OBS June: Five tie for fastest furlong at first breeze show

DRF Breeding Staff|Jun 09, 2014

Five juveniles breezed an eighth of a mile in ten seconds flat during Monday’s first under-tack show in advance of next week’s Ocala Breeders' Sales Co. 2-year-olds and horses of racing age sale. The initial breeze show covered hips 1-200 and will be followed by five more daily installments, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Eastern and ending on Saturday. The four-day auction takes place from June 17-20.

The five horses that tied for the fastest furlong time were:

• Hip No. 44: A Curlin colt out of the winning Broad Brush mare Rockintotherhythm, consigned by Top Line Sales, agent. His dam is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Haka.

• Hip No.58: A filly by Flatter, out of the Pentelicus mare Run Caroline Run, consigned by Bobby Dodd, agent.

• Hip No. 121: Fast Flying Rumor, a chestnut West Acre gelding out of the unraced Silver Deputy mare Silver Scandal, consigned by Texahoma Inc., agent.

• Hip No. 148: Avenue of Art, a son of WinStar Farm sire Artie Schiller out of the unraced Avenue of Flags mare Sookloozy, consigned by Eddie Woods, agent.

• Hip No. 187: A Midshipman filly out of the unraced A.P. Indy mare Storm Front, consigned by Santa Fe Thoroughbreds, agent. The filly’s dam is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Utopian.

A son of New York sire Bluegrass Cat posted fastest the quarter-mile work on Monday, stopping the clock at 20 4/5 seconds. Cataloged as Hip No. 2, the bay colt is out of the unraced Seeking the Gold mare Radiating, who is a half-sister to Grade 1-winning millionaire Boisterous. The colt is consigned by Doble Jak LLC, agent.

Hip No. 156, a Street Sense filly, posted the fastest three-furlong work on Monday, finishing in 33 4/5 seconds. The dark bay or brown filly is out of the Grade 3-placed winning mare Special Grayce, by Smart Strike, and is consigned by Northwest Stud, agent.
