OBS June breeze show: Two fillies tie for fastest furlong Saturday

The crowd atop the leaderboard continued to grown on the penultimate day of the under-tack preview show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. June sale of 2-year-olds in training and horses of racing age.

An Exchange Rate filly and a Munnings filly each worked an eighth in 9 4/5 seconds on the Ocala Training Center’s all-weather Safetrack surface, creating a six-way tie for the fastest furlong through the first three sessions.

The Exchange Rate filly, consigned by Bobby Dodd, as agent, is out of the winning Devil His Due mare Downtown Drifter. The Munnings filly, consigned by Eddie Woods, as agent, is out of the winning Medaglia d'Oro mare Extravagance. It is the family of graded stakes winner Untouched Talent, the dam of Grade 1 winner and classic sire Bodemeister.

A colt from the second crop of Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner New Year's Day stood alone with the day's fastest quarter, breezing in 20 3/5 seconds. The colt, who is consigned by Hawks Nest LLC, is out of the stakes-placed Awesome Again mare Awesome Symmetry, from the family of Grade 1 winner Swept Overboard.

Hallucegenic, a colt by Winslow Homer consigned by Gayle Woods, and Covergirl Justice, a Revolutionary filly consigned by All Dreams Equine, each worked three-eighths in 33 seconds flat to tie for the session's fastest move at that distance.

The breeze show concludes Sunday, with the session starting at 7:30 Eastern. The auction is next Wednesday through Friday, beginning each day at 10 a.m.
