OBS April: Flashy Bull colt clocks fastest furlong in first breeze show

A Flashy Bull colt turned in the fastest furlong on Monday during the first of six sessions of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. spring 2-year-olds in training pre-sale under-tack show.

The gray or roan colt covered an eighth of a mile in :10 seconds flat over the Ocala Training Center’s all-weather Safetrack surface.

Bred in Kentucky by Charles H. Deters, the colt is out of the unplaced Wild Rush mare Lady Rushmoore, who is the dam of two winners from four foals to race. He is from the family of Grade 2 winner Punch Line and Grade 2-placed stakes winner The Lady’s Groom.

The colt was purchased for $37,000 at the 2014 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall yearling sale by Kings Equine, which consigns him as agent during the spring sale.

A quartet of juveniles breezed the fastest quarter-mile of the day, each stopping the clock in :21 seconds flat. Following are the session’s fastest horses at the distance.

-- A Congrats colt out of the winning Montbrook mare Lovely Golda. Bred in Kentucky and consigned as agent by Woodford Thoroughbreds, the colt is the first foal out of Lovely Golda, who is a full sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Turbulent Descent. The extended family includes Canadian champion Key to the Moon.

-- A Flatter filly out of the unplaced Macho Uno mare Luxaholic, whose first foal to race is placed in two of three starts. Bred in Kentucky by Gabriel Duignan, Patrick Costello, Ben McElroy, and John Wade, she was a $25,000 purchase as a short yearling at the 2014 Keeneland January horses of all ages sale, and is consigned by de Meric Sales, agent.

-- Flying Rumors, a Discreet Cat colt out of the unraced Maria’s Mon mare Marialua, who is the dam of three winners from five foals to race. A $150,000 purchase out of the 2014 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall yearling sale, the colt hails from the family of Triple Crown winner Affirmed, as well as Grade 3 winners Drilling For Oil, White Crown, and Honolua Storm. The colt was bred in Kentucky by Twin Hopes Farm and is consigned by Eddie Woods, agent.

-- A Divine Park colt out of the unraced Dayjur mare Never a Cloudy Day, whose four winners from six foals to race includes the Grade 3-placed Norainonthisparty. Bred in Kentucky by Mike and Brent Harris, the colt’s page also includes Group 1 winners Clausen Export and Kara De Birigui Grade 2 winner Pat Copelan. Southern Chase Farm consigns the colt as agent.

The OBS spring breeze show continues daily through April 18, with each session beginning at 8 a.m. Eastern, The sale will be held April 21-24, starting each day at 10:30 a.m.
