OBS 2-year-olds weather storm in breeze show

Joe Nevills|Jun 07, 2016

Inclement weather did not bog down the fastest juveniles during Tuesday’s session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. June 2-year-olds in training and horses of racing age sale, with a pair of juveniles tying for the best time over an eighth of a mile, going in 10 seconds flat.

The start of Tuesday’s breeze show was delayed by a half-hour to give the grounds crew additional time to ensure the all-weather Safetrack surface was in good order following the aftermath of Tropical Storm Colin, which passed through central Florida on Monday, and into Tuesday.

Following are the two horses to clock the fastest furlong of the day, going in 10 seconds flat.

* Hip 484, a Candy Ride colt out of the Storm Cat mare La Maestranza, who has three foals of racing age, but none to start. His second dam is Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Cash Run, making La Maestranza a full sister to Irish Group 3-placed stakes winner Great War Eagle. The third dam on the page is Grade 1 winner Shared Interest, putting the colt in the extended family of Grade 1 winner and sire Forestry, Grade 1 winner Sewickley, and Grade 2 winner Golden Spikes. Bobby Dodd consigns the colt, as agent.

* Hip 592, a Put It Back filly who is the first foal out of the unraced Dixie Union mare Missys Lolity, and hails from the family of Group 1 winner Miswaki, Grade 2 winner Jump Start, and Grade 1-placed Union City. Weston Thoroughbreds Training and Sales consigns the Florida-bred, as agent.

A pair of horses also tied for the co-fastest time at a quarter-mile on Tuesday, completing their breezes in 21 seconds flat.

* Hip 435, a colt from the first crop of Algorithms out of the winning Forest Wildcat mare Javelina, who is the dam of two winners from three foals to race, including stakes-placed Clearance Clarence. Stakes winners Tough It Out and My Mogul can be found in the extended family. Price Thoroughbreds consigns the colt, as agent.

* Hip 453, a Macho Uno filly out of the unraced Belong to Me mare Kassidy's Kiss, whose two foals to race are both winners, including stakes winner Kiss N Scat. Her extended family includes Argentine champion Painter, Grade/Group 2 winners Thirst for Peace and Mr Abdul, and Grade 3 winner Vinemeister. Eddie Woods consigns the filly, as agent.

The OBS June sale’s under-tack show continues daily through Friday, beginning each day at 7:30 a.m. Eastern. The auction will take place June 14-17, beginning each day at 10:30 a.m.
