Oaklawn: That Tat rallies in mud
That Tat rallied past the pacesetters through the sloppy stretch at Oaklawn Park for a neck win in the $50,000 Hot Springs Stakes.
Level Playingfield put in a furious bid up the rail and finished second, two lengths in front of third-place finisher Engineered.
That Tat ($8.80) broke sharply and settled in third behind Deputy Storm, who ran the opening quarter of the six-furlong race in 22.07 seconds, pushed along by Wildcat Shoes. That Tat began to mount his bid on the turn, while Deputy Storm continued to lead through a half-mile in 45.57 seconds, still pursued by Wildcat Shoes. That Tat wore the leaders down in the stretch, and covered the distance over the wet track in 1:10.23.
Jamie Theriot rode the winner for leading trainer Cole Norman.
