Oaklawn signs simulcast deal

Matt Hegarty|Oct 15, 2007
TrackNet Media, the company formed by Churchill Downs Inc. and Magna Entertainment to market simulcast signals, has signed an agreement to buy and sell simulcast signals on behalf of Oaklawn Park, TrackNet announced Monday.

TrackNet will negotiate with simulcast outlets over the wagering and broadcast rights to Oaklawn, which runs a winter-spring meet. TrackNet will also negotiate with other tracks to buy simulcast content for Oaklawn, which is open year-round as a simulcast site.

According to a release, TrackNet will now manage the simulcast rights for 20 racetracks, including all those owned by Churchill and Magna. TrackNet was formed earlier this year and has been using the leverage provided by its large roster of track to push for higher simulcasting fees.
