Oaklawn: Savorthetime rolls at 1-5

Savorthetime won like a 1-5 shot should at Oaklawn Park when she overtook pacesetter Boston Express in the stretch and went on to a 3 1/4-length victory in the $50,000 Carousel Stakes. It was another 5 1/2 lengths back to Dance Tune in third.
With the victory, Savorthetime gave her trainer, Steve Asmussen, a sweep of the filly and mare sprint series at Oaklawn. Asmussen won the first two legs of the series, the $50,000 American Beauty and the $50,000 Spring Fever, with Souris.
Savorthetime ($2.60) tracked Boston Express in second after that rival jumped out to the lead and set fractions of 22.09 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.16 seconds for the half-mile. Savorthetime overtook her near the sixteenth pole and went on to cover the distance in 1:09.57.
Roman Chapa rode Savorthetime, who has now won 11 races and $450,996. Savorthetime, a 6-year-old mare by Gilded Time, races for Brenda and Phillip Robertson.
