Oaklawn races delayed due to tornado watch
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Oaklawn Park has delayed the continuation of its Friday races for more than an hour as the area is under a tornado watch. The track announced the third race has been canceled and post time for the fourth race will be pushed back to 3:15 p.m. Central.
Oaklawn is located in Garland County, which came under a tornado watch around 12:45 p.m. Central. The watch was to have been lifted by 1:15 p.m., but was extended to 2:15 p.m., according to AccuWeather.
Oaklawn has encouraged patrons to move inside, announcing there were potential storms heading towards the track. Oaklawn's first two races have gone off without incident. Later on the card, the track is scheduled to run the $250,000 Matron Stakes, the start of its Racing Festival of the South.
