Oaklawn Park: Work All Week extends streak to six in Hot Springs Stakes

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Work All Week won his sixth consecutive race Saturday at Oaklawn Park, when he proved to be the dominant speed in the $100,000 Hot Springs. He won the six-furlong race by 1 1/2 lengths over Alsvid, while it was another length back in third to Apprehender.
The Hot Springs, for 4-year-olds and up, is designed as a stepping-stone to next month’s Grade 3, $300,000 Count Fleet Sprint Handicap.
Work All Week ($6.20) assumed command of the Hot Springs soon after the start, and his rivals chased him through fractions of 21.70 seconds for the opening quarter and 45 seconds for the half-mile. In the late stages, he comfortably held off Alsvid to cover the distance on a track rated fast in 1:09.84.
Chris Emigh rode the winner for Midwest Thoroughbreds and trainer Roger Brueggemann.
Work All Week began his streak in an optional $40,000 claimer at Arlington Park last July. He proceeded to win another optional $75,000 claimer at Indiana Downs, two Illinois-bred stakes between Fairmount and Hawthorne, then an optional $62,500 claimer in January at Oaklawn.
Work All Week is a 5-year-old gelding by City Zip. He has now won 9 of 11 starts and $321,198.
