Oaklawn Park: Will Take Charge breezes
Will Take Charge, the runner-up to Game On Dude in the Santa Anita Handicap, on Tuesday continued his preparations for the Grade 1, $600,000 Oaklawn Handicap with a five-furlong work in 1:01.40. He breezed in the second set, under exercise rider Alberto Rodriguez.
Oaklawn clockers carried Will Take Charge through an opening eighth of a mile in 12.60 seconds; the first quarter in 25; three furlongs in 37.60; and a final quarter in 23.80. He galloped out six furlongs in 1:15. Will Take Charge was the champion 3-year-old of 2013. He races for Willis Horton and Three Chimneys LLC and is trained by D. Wayne Lukas.
