Oaklawn Park, Turfway Park cancel Sunday cards due to winter weather

For the fourth straight day, winter weather has forced the cancellation of live racing at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ark., on Sunday. The track also lost six of its races to wet weather last Sunday.

Oaklawn expects to resume racing Thursday, with a five-day week that includes the Grade 3, $300,000 Southwest Stakes for 3-year-olds next Monday, Feb 17. Arkansas is under a winter storm warning through early Tuesday.

Turfway Park in Florence, Ky., also canceled its Sunday card because the maintenance crew was unable to work ice out of the Polytrack racing surface, the track said in a statement.
