Oakland, Golden Nugget preps on Friday

Friday’s card at Golden Gate offers fans a pair of important prep races for upcoming stakes.

Six older sprinters being pointed to the Nov. 15 Oakland will compete at six furlongs in the third race. Streamside, who won the Oak Tree Sprint at Pleasanton, is gunning for his fourth straight victory. Trained by Sergio Ledezma, Streamside has won the last four times he has raced at six furlongs and is 9 for 16 at the distance in his career.

Eight 2-year-olds will compete at 5 1/2 furlongs in Friday’s fifth race, a prep for the six-furlong Golden Nugget on Nov. 8.

Topping the field are Global Magician, who won his debut here and has run second in three stakes; Every May, a Southern California invader; and the Jeff Bonde-trained Rainsford, who won his debut at Fresno.
