Oak Grove: Three-year-olds duel in Oak Grove Sires Stakes

Greg Reinhart|Jun 27, 2022

A day after their 2-year-old counterparts competed in the Oak Grove Sires Stakes, sophomores of both sexes and gaits took to the oval in the same event at the Kentucky five-eighths-mile oval. Each race carried a purse of $25,000.

After having a hat trick on Sunday, Yannick Gingras added two more victories on Monday. He won a split for filly trotters with Criquette Hall for trainer Ron Burke in 1:54 3/5 and a division of the filly pace with Sake Bomb for trainer Ed Gannon Jr. in 1:52 1/5. Criquette Hall, by Cash Hall, was bred by Alan Leavitt and is owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC., Frank Baldachino, Beasty LLC., and Larry Karr, and Sake Bomb, bred by Henderson Farms, is owned by Zippett Racing Stable, Joe Di Scala Jr., and Evan Katz.

Gannon added another tally when his Rocknroll Gold, a gelding by A Rocknroll Dance, was placed the winner of a colt and gelding pace tilt in 1:53 1/5 for driver Andy Miller. Mayor Ofthemoment (Dexter Dunn) crossed the wire first but was placed last for causing interference while on a break before the half. Rocknroll Gold was bred by Watermark Farm LLC. and is owned by Zippett Racing Stable.

Driver Tony Hall and trainer Anette Lorentzon joined forces to take a filly trot with Pioneer AS in 1:53 4/5 and a filly pace with Ainthesamewithoutu in 1:52 3/5. Pioneer AS is a daughter of Devious Man bred and owned by ACL Stuteri AB while Ainthesamewithoutu was bred and is owned by Lorentzon.

The fastest mile in Oak Grove Sires Stakes action was clocked by Dancin Sancho in a colt and gelding pace, as he scored in 1:51 4/5 for driver Trevor Smith, trainer Todd Luther, and owner Black Magic Racing LLC. Dancin Sancho is a Sweet Lou gelding bred by Anvil and Lace Farm.
