Oak Grove: No repeaters in Kentucky Sire Stakes for 4-year-olds
None of the winners from last Sunday's first round could double up in Monday's second leg of the Kentucky Sire Stakes for 4-year-olds at Oak Grove Racing & Gaming. Each of the events went for a purse of $50,000.
In the horse and gelding trot, Keg Stand (Yannick Gingras) moved from the pocket to the point on the way to the 58 1/5 half and maintained command from there to prevail by a length and three-quarters in 1:54 1/5. TNT Blue Chip (Andy McCarthy) put in a solid bid from first-over but had to settle for second, and Longshot (Chris Lems) came with a late rally after sitting on the pylons and getting shuffled in the middle-half.
Nancy Takter trains Keg Stand, a son of Bar Hopping, for owners Black Horse Racing, Christina Takter, and John Fielding. This was his seventh career win, he has now earned $392,050, and he paid $2.86 to win as the 2-5 favorite.
Yanaba (John MacDonald) was on a loose lead through stations of 28 3/5, 57, and 1:24 1/5 in the mare trot, then dug in through the stretch to fend off a closing bid by favored Eternal Lee (McCarthy) and get a one length win in 1:54 1/5. Pioneer As (Tony Hall) collected third.
The victorious daughter of Trixton is trained by Jack Rice for owners Ann-Mari Daley, Jared Daley, and Oleg Ivutin. Yanaba has compiled a record of 5-3-4 from 25 lifetime efforts, pushed her bankroll to $175,475, and returned $11.88 to win as the 9-2 second choice.
The mare pace saw Queen Of Success (McCarthy) click off panels of 26 1/5, 55 1/5, and 1:22 4/5 on her way to a 1:52 win, as she was just able to hold off both Ainthesamewithoutu (Hall) and Dont Fence Me In (Marvin Luna) by a nose in a tight photo finish.
Queen Of Success, a Tony Alagna-trained Captaintreacherous mare, is owned by Alagna Racing LLC., Caviart Farms, and Robert LeBlanc. She made her ninth appearance in the winner's circle, has now pocketed $312,628, and paid $27.38 to win as a 12-1 offering.

All Or Nothing (Andy Miller) was definitely "all" in the horse and gelding pace, as he was in front at the 26 3/5 quarter, 55 1/5 half, 1:22 4/5 three-quarters, and 1:50 2/5 finish. He downed pocket-sitter and favorite I Did It Myway (McCarthy) by three-quarters of a length, with Wolftrax (Atlee Bender) rounding out the trifecta.
By Always B Miki, All Or Nothing was sent out by Robert Bath for owner/breeder John Cummins. All Or Nothing, who was making just his seventh start, has five wins, a second, and a third, and he has put away $104,289. He returned $15.56 to win as the 6-1 second choice.
The Kentucky Sire Stakes series has four preliminary rounds in total and will culminate with $150,000 finals on May 29.
