Oak Grove: Kentucky-Bred Series finals take place

Greg Reinhart|Jul 19, 2022

The curtain came down on the Kentucky-Bred Series for 4-year-olds at Oak Grove Racing & Gaming on Tuesday with four $150,000 finals.

Blue Diamond Eyes (Yannick Gingras) kicked off the action in the mare pace by winning in 1:48 3/5, just missing the world record for the division by three-fifths of a second. Blue Diamond Eyes, who went four-for-four in the prelims, came to the outside from fourth nearing the 54 2/5 half, brushed into the lead before the 1:21 three-quarters, and kicked away to score by three lengths over Classicist (Andy McCarthy). Single Girl (Randy Jerrell) checked in third.

Ron Burke trains Blue Diamond Eyes, a Captaintreacherous mare, for owners Thomas and Scott Dillon. She made her 16th appearance in the winner's circle, pushed her bankroll to $1,327,714, and paid $2.20 to win as the 1-9 favorite.

Trainer Chris Beaver finished first and second in the horse and gelding trot, with Kildare King (Gingras) holding sway over Flemsteen (Joey Putnam) in a 1:51 2/5 mile. Kildare King went to the point from post five, clicked off panels of 27 1/5, 56 2/5, and 1:24, and got home in 27 2/5 to defeat his stablemate by a length and a quarter. Jula Muscle Pack (McCarthy) finished third.

A gelding by Trixton, Kildare King is owned by breeder Robert Goodman. This was Kildare King's tenth career victory, and he has now earned $262,725. He was the 1-5 choice and returned $2.40 to win.

1-5 favorite Goldie's Legacy (Gingras) made a break past the start in the horse and gelding pace, taking him out of contention and allowing Komodo Beach (McCarthy) to have command through fractions of 27 2/5, 56, and 1:23 2/5 on his way to a 1:50 victory. He defeated pocket-sitter Mad Man Hill (Todd Warren) by 2 1/4 lengths, with Caviart Lotus (Tony Hall) taking third.

Komodo Beach is a Somebeachsomewhere gelding trained by Noel Daley for owner Morrison Racing Stables. Komodo Beach has compiled a record of 11-10-5 from 36 lifetime starts, he has pocketed $370,390 and he paid $6.00 to win as the 2-1 second choice.

Highly Acclaimed (Dan Shetler) was third.

The victorious Trixton mare is owned by Crawford Farms LLC. and trained by Tony Alagna. She is now a 12-time winner, and she has stashed away $497,947. She paid $2.10 to win as the 1-9 favorite.
