Kildare King (Yannick Gingras) led through fractions of 28 1/5, 57 3/5, and 1:26 1/5 in the horse and gelding trot, and a 27 2/5 final kicker got him to the wire a length ahead of fellow Chris Beaver trainee Flemsteen (Andy McCarthy) in a 1:53 3/5 mile. Classicist was next, followed by High Minded. Ron Burke trains Blue Diamond Eyes, a Captaintreacherous mare, for owners Thomas and Scott Dillon. She made her 13th appearance in the winner's circle, pushed her bankroll to $1,202,714, and paid $2.40 to win as the 1-5 favorite. Round one winner and 4-5 favorite Goldie's Legacy (Gingras) broke stride on the first turn in the horse and gelding pace, leaving first Komodo Beach (McCarthy) and then Red Right Hand (Zeron) to do the pace-making through stations of 26 2/5, 53 4/5, and 1:21 4/5. McCarthy brought Komodo Beach to the outside from the two-hole on the final bend, he blew by Red Right Hand, and then kicked away to score by three lengths in 1:49. Shenzi AS (Warren) was placed third after Awesome Trix (Hall) was moved back to fifth after making a break in the stretch. The victorious Trixton mare is owned by Crawford Farms LLC. and trained by Tony Alagna. She is now a nine-time winner, and she has stashed away $372,947. She paid $2.40 to win as the 1-5 favorite.
